Grooming Policies

Time Keeping

I work to a tight daily schedule to ensure your dog gets ample, safe one to one grooming time so would really appreciate you to arrive on time for your appointments as this can have a knock on effect for the rest of the dogs booked in for the day. I allow sufficient time to groom your dog safely at their own pace, as well as deep cleaning my studio between appointments.

Cancellations

I’d really appreciate as much notice as possible if you have to cancel your appointment as it’s not easy for me to rebook the appointment at short notice which often ends in loss of earnings for me. I understand that emergencies happen, I always value honesty in these situations. A cancellation charge may be incurred and will need to be paid before your dog is rebooked for their next appointment.

No Shows

If you do not attend your appointment and don’t notify me there may be a No Show Charge as this often ends in loss of earning for me. I will be unable to rebook your dog back in until this has been paid. Like cancellations I always value honesty in these situations.

If you are unsure of your next appointment is please send me a message, I’m more than happy to check for you.

Behaviour

It’s very important that you tell me if your dog has bitten or if your dog has previously acted in an aggressive manner in any way, this means that I can be prepared and put processes in place to protect your dog and myself during the groom.

I reserve the right to stop the groom or refuse services for your dog at any time during the grooming process.

Coat Condition

My ethos has and will always be your dogs welfare comes first over the way it looks, humanity over vanity. If I am presented with a coat that I believe in my professional opinion it is kinder to remove than it is to de-mat the coat this will be done in accordance to the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

The Act states, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal. This includes prolonged de-matting which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog. It states that all animals are to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease. If your dog requires more than 15 minutes of de-matting work I am required by the act to clip your dog humanely or refer you to the vet to do the same. I will always abide by this when grooming your dog.

There will be an extra charge for de-matting your dog as this often takes more time, product and incurs significant wear and tear on equipment including scissors and clipper blades.

Noise

Unfortunately, I do not accept very noisy dogs or dogs that continually bark for grooming as I am situated in a residential area with neighbours close by.

For Your Dogs Comfort.

Please make sure your dog has had a walk and comfort breaks before arriving, this will help them feel more relaxed and comfortable during the process.

Leanne’s Dog Grooming reserves the right to refuse grooming services where necessary.
